Still waiting...

Still waiting to hear if the grant proposal went through.  In the meantime, I thought it would be a good time to start my presentation.  I am presenting next Thursday, so let's hope I have an answer by then.  Waiting... waiting... waiting...

Waiting...

I was able to get the grant proposal in during the first week of March and I am just waiting to hear back.  I signed up for a date to present which will be at the end of April.  I haven't started the presentation, but probably should sooner or later.

Making Progress...

So I now have a project that I am working towards.  I am writing a grant proposal to a non-profit foundation that my dad has had contact with.  I will be asking for $10,000 for my school's music program and I am almost done writing it.  I am hoping to get it in by the end of this week, so it can make it to their March board meeting.  I am glad to see progress on my project!

And the project begins...

So, we are doing a personal project in history, where we have to come up with an end product (event, organization, physical product) and present it to the class in May as a Ted-style talk.  Many ideas ran through my head when we were first told about the project.  I knew I wanted to do something with music or the band program at my school.  After coming up with a few ideas, I took out the impractical ones and decided on an idea.  After talking to my director, who is also my mentor for this project, I evolved my idea even more and worked with my dad to come up with the most reliable and practical idea.  The idea is that I can write a few requests for grants and hope that they go through, but in addition have a band bowling night or a fundraising night at a local restaurant.  My goal would be to raise enough money to get something for the band room.  My director is still inconclusive of what we need for the band room, but he said if he can't think of anything I can present the money to the music boosters as a gift at the end of the year.  My hope for this project is to "leave a legacy" behind for my band program and hope that it makes a difference for them.  I am looking forward to this project and I hope my idea can turn into reality!
